Running Man

Performed here by one of Fela Cuti's dancers (also an ex-wife) back in 1978, the "Running Man" was later given that name after being popularized by the likes of Janet Jackson, MC Hammer and Kid n' Play. Reportedly, the move was part of African dance prior to even that time so its specific origins are only known to be African dance in general. African dance has clearly had a pervasive effect on countless dance styles. The move has taken on many forms since those early days and was a clear influence in Melbourne Shuffle.
